My name is Katrin Bretscher, and I’m a coach. Originally, I’ve studied Computer Science at ETH Zurich. As you do, I went on to work as a software engineer after that. Already in my first job, I was very confused about that “backlog” and those “dailies”. Unfortunately, no-one had explained to me how that was supposed to work. So I went on to my next job, where I started an agile bookreading group. “The Art of Agile Development” was an eye-opener for me: I finally understood what it all was about!
In my free time, I love to play sports. With time, I started to teach and help my friends getting better. I got myself an education as a mental coach (something I still do). My boss learned about that, and suddenly, I was a Scrum Master.
Obviously, I’m very passionate about Agile. Whatever I’ve undertaken, I always tried to find similarities and new applications. I’ve written my theses in Technical Writing and in Sports about how to apply agile principles in those fields. Conversely, I use mental training techniques in agile coaching.
I’m happy wherever things come down to business. I don’t like pussy-footing and half-heartedness. I like people who have a passion for something, who share their opinion, and give and want to become their best. It’s my superpower to help others realizing their potential.
I’m fluent in German and English.
